About me

I grew up being told that brown girls are just built soft.

In a South Asian household where rice was love and diabetes ran in the family like an inheritance nobody asked for, the idea that I could build a strong, lean, capable body felt like it belonged to someone else. Someone with different genetics. A different background. A different life. I saw Pinterest pictures of women who were fit, toned, yet feminine, but had no idea that was achievable. They had to be professional athletes.

I believed that for longer than I should have.

I went to the University of Virginia. I went on to work for the Government and as a Navy contractor. I built a career that demanded everything from me mentally - discipline, focus, performance under pressure. And the whole time I was operating at a high level professionally, I was still carrying the belief that my body was somehow the one area where the rules were different for me.

Then life got harder before it got better.

Fast forward, I found myself with a copy of David Goggins’ book Can’t Hurt Me. That book changed something about the wiring in my brain. If you haven’t read it, give it a shot. Might do the same for you.

I stopped waiting for the perfect conditions and started working with the ones I had. I incorporated fitness and nutrition into whatever my schedule looked like that week - not the schedule I wished I had. Not the routine I'd follow if life were easier. I wanted to challenge myself physically in a way that I’d never done before. I wanted to face myself and convince my mind to push my body past what I thought were her limits. This is where my fitness journey really began.

I started eating real whole foods. Noticing labels more. I started moving my body with intention. I stopped accepting the narrative I had been handed about my genetics, my background, my busy schedule, my age, etc. I fell completely in love with the process - not the destination, the process. The discipline. The 1% improvements that nobody sees until suddenly everybody does.

I had a wild job on the Panama schedule - rotating day and night 12-hr shifts that wrecked any concept of a normal routine or circadian rhythm. The kind of schedule that gives most people the perfect excuse to let everything fall apart. And some did. Not me. On top of having an hour commute and building my western streetwear brand Sierraville on the side, I woke up at 0345 (and 1545 on nights) so I could be at gym for hour before shift. Not every workout was great. But I showed up every time. Why? Because I told myself from the start that the one thing I wouldn’t let the schedule or job take from me was my fitness.

Getting in real shape changed my life. Not only physically, but everything. The way I carried myself. The way I showed up. The way people treated me. The way I treated myself.

Now I coach high performing women who are done accepting the version of themselves they were handed. Women who are tired of being told it's their hormones, their genetics, their schedule. Women who are ready to hear the truth and do something about it. Women who are ready to push themselves beyond what they thought was possible and build the body of their dreams.
